Convened by Cara Daggett and Terra Schwerin Rowe, the fourth iteration of the After Oil School (AOS) is taking the AOS model in exciting new directions. AOS4 brings together an interdisciplinary collective of researchers and thinkers in collaboration with the Center for Progressive Research (CPR), a progressive think tank designed to counter the conservative and neoliberal mobilization of intellectuals in think tanks and to reimagine the role of intellectuals in progressive social and political change in the process. AOS4 is working toward these goals as a CPR working group organized around the theme Energy and Colonial Racial Capitalism. AOS4 is currently operating as a virtual group for reading and thinking together about this theme through the lenses of history, the state/ethnonationalism, and the land to co-develop a starting framework for the group’s work. The next phases of the project will be designed and developed collectively and collaboratively as an experiment in progressive political intervention.
